The City Council is the chief policy-making body for the City of Atlanta with fifteen members presided over by the Council President.

Budget Overview

The total proposed FY2026 operating budget for the City Council is $12,325,717. This is a decrease of $741,561 (-6.0%) from the previous year.

The number of authorized positions (jobs) is proposed to increase from 52 to 54 (+3.8%).
