The Department of Public Works has two core functions: solid waste services (garbage, yard waste, and recycling) and fleet services (maintenance of the City’s motorized vehicles).

Budget Overview

The total proposed FY2026 operating budget for the Department of Public Works is $120,740,805. This is an increase of $17,799,047 (+14.7%) from the previous year.

The number of authorized full-time equivalent positions (jobs) is proposed to increase from 714 to 761 (+6.6%).
